May Interviews - Week One

        We just finished Interviews with the most wonderful, amazing, hard-working and dedicated missionaries in the world! 

        President Woodbury and I, along with the faithful Assistants to the President, Elder Morriss and Elder Clark, traveled the length, width and breadth of the Great Kentucky Louisville Mission, meeting with every District and every missionary over the past two-plus weeks. At each location, the District had their regular beginning to District Meeting, ie. song, prayer, Recitals, and Accountabilities, then the time was turned over to President Woodbury for an introduction to the training for the day. He related how Navy pilots must be precise and exact in their calculations, angle, speed, altitude, etc. in order to land their aircraft safely on the tiny landing strips of aircraft carriers, and how we as missionaries, must  likewise be precise and exact in our obedience in order to "land" our investigators on the narrow landing strip of baptism and membership in Christ's church. 

        The President then went off into another room with Sister Woodbury next door, to begin Interviews. As usual, while Sister Woodbury was talking to the missionaries, she mended whatever they had brought and passed out treats and the newest issue of the Trumpet. 

        While the interviews were going on, the Assistants did training on directives given to the President at the Mission Presidents Seminar a few weeks ago:  obedience with exactness, using Mormon.org more effectively, and contacting with the Book of Mormon.

When the last interview was finished, the foursome quickly packed up and drove to the next location, sometimes having four groups to work with in one day.

No, they're not praying,

or looking for someone's lost contact lens,

or playing "Rock, Paper, Scissors," or Thumb Wars" with themselves,

or trying to keep a bumblebee in their hands,

or pleading for mercy (Well, maybe a little of the latter)... 

Instead they're doing "Recitals" in a unique way...

Elder Roth, with the blue and red bandage, definitely had it the roughest. He had gotten a chunk taken out of his elbow in a bike accident a few days prior but, being the good sport he is, still did the challenge even though he only had one arm to support himself. 

Despite red faces from the effort and from laughing,

they demonstrated enduring to the end,

of their Purpose as a Missionary

and Doctrine and Covenants: Section 4.
