Leading Out the New Year: The January Zone Leader Council

It all begins with the doorbell ringing, and once opening the door seeing the following scene of sixteen terrific Elders singing "Ye Elders Of Israel." Not a bad way to start a meeting!

This month's Zone Leader Council was held, as most usually happens, on the first Tuesday of the month, at, as always, the Mission Home. It was the first time for Elder Thomas, Elder Beagley, Elder Taylor and Elder Ahern, who were just one week into their new callings. It was also the first time for Elder Murphy as Assistant to the President along with Elder Jolley.

Among other things, during the Council meeting President Woodbury talked about the
Mission Theme for January:
Alma 57: 21, 27  "Yea, and they did obey and observe to perform every word of command with exactness; yea, and even according to their faith it was done unto them; and I did remember the words which they said unto me that their mothers had taught them."  "Now this was the faith of these of whom I have spoken; they are young, and their minds are firm, and they do put their trust in God constantly."
and how to implement it in the mission. He additionally gave instruction, directives, and Tune-Ups to be taken back to the Zones. Challenges and problems were discussed, then each pair of Zone Leaders was given time to give their Accountability for their respective Zones, a sort of State of the Zone presentation, what they are doing, how they are doing it, how well it is working, and what they are planning for this month.

Beef parmesan, baked potatoes, mandarin Craisin salad,
glazed carrots, and peach cobbler with ice-cream.
I think they liked it!

After a break for lunch prepared by Sister Woodbury, the President provided more training, and further discussion and counciling together was done. After closing, pictures were taken, individual meetings were had with the President for Temple recommends and other matters, and whatever else needed to be done before heading out.
Hurrah for the Elders of Israel!
