Interview Time Again?

         If you're paying attention you will have noticed that we just had Interviews last Transfer and did them again this Transfer. No, that is not normal, since the directive is to rotate Transfers where we do interviews with those that we do Zone Conferences. We determined to shake things up a bit and flip flop the occasions just this once so that we will have Zone Conferences before we go home and the new Mission President and his wife will be able to have a whole Transfer to get to know the missionaries in Interviews before having to plan Transfers. When we came three years ago, We had a Transfer a week and half after we got there which meant we had to have the plan done and called out just a week after arriving. Early the next morning after we got here we took off on a whirlwind Mission Tour where we met with everyone in the mission to introduce ourselves and have about three or four minutes per person to talk. It was hardly enough time to say more than hello, but it was better than nothing. No, the Transfer had not been planned out by the previous Mission President so we had to go on a lot of inspiration and some the counsel of two great Assistants to the President who were already in place. We didn't want President and Sister Brough to have to do what we did, hence the rearranging of the schedule.

        As we went around the mission to do the Interviews, we tried not to think about this being the last time we will be doing this, and just enjoy the chance to talk to some of the most wonderful, valiant missionaries in the Church. It really has been a blessing to be able to do this, to discuss the affairs of the Kingdom, or at least their little corner of it, how they are doing individually and as a companionship, hear about their struggles, and rejoice in their successes and growth. 

        On the calendar, the series of events is called "Interviews with the President," but I get to have a part in it, talking to one missionary while President Woodbury talks with the other, then trading. As this is going on, the Assistants, Elder Whitehead and Elder Dopp, did training with each of the twenty-six Districts, which not only included role-plays, but also an example of doing a Church Tour. Before the actual interviews there was also a shortened District Meeting where we got to hear about each companionship's most progressing investigators and how they, the missionaries, and the investigators are doing in the Key Indicators as they progress toward baptism. Its a great way not only to get a handle on those people who are being taught, but also to see how the missionaries handle themselves and how they interact with each other in their companionship. 

        As tiring as doing 270 interviews are, it is also invigorating. The missionaries look forward to the experience as do we.
